Microsoft’s July pricing changes make this a useful time to review subscription renewals, assigned licences and the plans your team needs.
Microsoft’s commercial Microsoft 365 pricing changes took effect on 1 July 2026. With the changes now in force, businesses should check their subscription renewal dates and understand which products are affected.
Microsoft says existing customers remain on their current pricing until renewal. This means the impact will depend on your subscriptions and renewal arrangements, rather than every business seeing an immediate increase on the same day.
The changes vary by plan
Selected Business, Enterprise and Frontline products are affected. Microsoft’s published list-price tables show increases for Business Basic and Business Standard, while Business Premium’s listed price is unchanged under this update. Actual UK charges depend on the product, currency, purchasing arrangement and applicable terms, so headline US dollar figures should not be treated as a UK quotation.
Review what you actually use
CIT recommends checking your licence allocation before the next renewal. Identify accounts belonging to former staff, confirm which users need desktop applications and consider whether each person has the most suitable plan. Preserve any required business data before changing or removing licences.
Check the commitment period as well as the payment frequency: paying monthly does not necessarily mean the subscription can be cancelled each month. A clear renewal schedule helps avoid surprises and gives you time to assess changes.
Contact CIT for a Microsoft 365 licensing review and confirmation of the pricing and renewal terms that apply to your business.
